Aug 25 1894 Dear Alice: I received your kind bid yesterday, but as there is no way of sending a letter out before tomorrow I did not answer it before. I should have liked to meet Miss Strong very much, if we could have got in a row in the moon light it would have been fine. I went out packing (that is shooting deer by lamp light) saw four, shot one three times but he got away; we followed him by the blood signs for a mile but could not get him, on returning the guide who was ahead of me saw a buck jump and stop to listen he fired and killed it stone dead; So we brought a deer home but I did not shoot it. Just my luck! My visit was very unexpected I just packed up and came last Tuesday. This is the greatest place in the world. I am going out tonight again. I am awfully sorry that I am unable to get down to see you and
Miss Strong but I hope that you will forgive me. Yours Sincerely, P.M.
